Kingsmead Primary School

The school already had a cashless catering system but sought improvements in the way that money is loaded into the system, the level of reporting and in overall financial management with tighter controls and greater visibility of the status of students accounts. A tight control of student’s accounts and ensure that overdrawn accounts don’t get out of control.

Kingsmead is an average sized Primary School in Northwich, famous for its commitment to sustainability and judged to be outstanding in all aspects of the curriculum. 

The Challenge

The school already had a cashless catering system but sought improvements in the way that money is loaded into the system, the level of reporting and in overall financial management with tighter controls and greater visibility of the status of students accounts.

The Solution

LunchHound cashless catering was installed in 2011 and the office staff given a window into the system which gave them the ability to easily pay in cheques and the unavoidable small amounts of cash which parents continue to bring in on a daily basis; this was found to be a huge improvement on the old system. Receipts, issued by the system will further improve this already efficient process. Catering staff find the system very easy to use and selecting students by touching their on-screen photograph makes identication and payment processing extremely fast.

One of Lunch Hound’s key strengths is in its reporting, these are simple to access and comprehensive. Critically they have allowed us to gain very tight control over students accounts and although the benefit of allowing students to go overdrawn, once in a while, is welcome, it introduces the need to keep tight control of all accounts to ensure that overdrawn accounts don’t get out of control and that ageing debtors are flagged. Lunch Hound takes care of this and makes the process of communicating out to parents simple; cash balances, details of food consumed and even next weeks menus can be quickly sent out on a regular basis with minimum fuss - parents really appreciate this level of engagement. Support has been excellent, one call followed by an informed discussion or a quick dial into the system to diagnose any issues is usually all that’s needed and simple operational advice is readily given - who needs a manual!
